She couldn’t walk or br℮athe, her stomach swσllen with pαin

We were contacted by a concerned citizen about a dog living on the property of a local business.

There were several dogs there, but Abby was in c.r ìtical condition.

Her belly was severely swollen. She could not walk.
And it was clear that breathing was difficult for her.

We dropped everything and went immediately to help. After an employee allowed us access to the property, we gently lifted Abby, placed her in our car, and rushed her to emergency care.

X-rays and testing confirmed our worst fears. Abby was s.u ƒfering from advanced heartworm disease.

We don’t know how long she had been living like this, but the severity of her condition meant she was not a candidate for heartworm treatment.

Abby became a hospice case. All we could do was manage her symptoms and give her comfort.

Her belly was drained, relieving the pressure that had been crushing her organs. She was started on antibiotics, diuretics, and heart medication.

We didn’t know how much time she had left.

But we knew one thing clearly: before she l.e ƒt this world, she deserved to know love.

Trust came slowly.

A soft tail wag. The first nap nearby. A shy nose resting against a hand.

In those quiet moments, Abby began to believe the world could be kind.

Her body remained fragile, but her spirit started to shine.

More fluid was removed, easing her breathing and bringing visible relief. With each treatment, she felt lighter, more present, more alive.

Abby surprised everyone.

She greeted mornings with gentle excitement. She welcomed us home with a wag full of love.
Her eyes began to glow with warmth and joy.

Every moment with her became precious.

Her past p.a ìn no longer defined her.

Here, she is safe. Here, she is loved. Here, she will never be afraid again.

Abby is living in a hospice foster home where she is cherished every day.

Her care continues with medications, veterinary support, and constant monitoring. Each visit, each treatment, keeps her comfortable and happy.

Though her journey remains fragile, Abby chooses joy whenever she can. Her body struggles, but her spirit never gives up.

Once, she survived beneath a concert truck, her body s.w σllen with fluid from heartworm disease.
When pounds of fluid were drained from her belly, her real life finally began.

Now, she is no longer just surviving.

She is living. She is full of light. Full of spirit.
And proof that love can change everything.

Every day with Abby is a gift we never expected.

We love you, Abigail.
