I found this tiny “spoon-like” tool in the pocket of my lαte grandpa’s suit, but I’m pretty sure it’s not actually a spoon.

At first, it seemed like one of those little mysteries you unintentionally leave behind. The suit had been hanging in the closet for years, neatly folded, as if patiently awaiting its moment. And then, in the pocket… this strange little object.

Thin, light, with a tiny «eye» at its end… At first, they thought it might be some kind of miniature spoon or a piece of an old tool. They considered a multitude of possibilities: a watchmaker’s spoon, a rare accessory…

But suddenly, one of the older members of the family remembered.

This kind of object was once commonplace: an old-fashioned ear pick. A small metal stick with a pointed end, used long before cotton swabs. People carried it everywhere, sometimes even as a personal item, almost like a pocket accessory.

It’s strange to realize how such simple objects can hold a fragment of someone’s life. Perhaps he simply kept it «just in case,» or perhaps it was a habit he’d developed over the years.

It’s no longer just an incomprehensible object, but a small detail from the past.

Sometimes, the simplest discoveries are the most personal.
