While sorting through his things, we came across this really strange object 🤔
No one knew what it was, but it clearly looked old and unusual.
With its unusual shape and weight, it looked like a mix between a tool and a decorative object.
We spent quite a while trying to guess… without any success 😅
After a bit of research, we finally found the answer 👇
👉 It’s an old maritime tool called a “fid,” used for working with rope ⚓
It was mainly used to:
- separate the fibers of ropes
- make splices (joining ropes together)
- handle tight knots
📌 This type of tool was commonly used by sailors, especially in the days when everything on a ship depended on rope.
Honestly, we didn’t expect that…
It just goes to show that every object has its own story!
Would you have guessed? 👀
