Today I had a really strange moment… and honestly, it caught me a bit off guard 😅
I was casually walking out into the yard when something on my fence caught my attention. At first, I thought it was just some dirt or an old piece of something stuck there… but as I got closer, I realized it wasn’t normal at all.
The thing was attached directly to the metal, with a completely irregular shape — almost organic. Its texture looked soft, a bit gelatinous, like it could move at any moment. Honestly, for a few seconds I really thought it was something alive… or at least something that had been alive.
What disturbed me the most was that I’m 100% sure it wasn’t there yesterday. So the question was simple: how could it appear so quickly? Did it grow there? Did something leave it there? The more I thought about it, the stranger it seemed.
I stayed at a distance, observing it like I was trying to solve a mystery. I thought of everything: a cocoon, a larva, a fungus, or even something completely unknown. And honestly… none of those ideas felt very reassuring 😅
After a while, I took out my phone and started searching for images, comparing them… and little by little, an answer started to appear. It wasn’t something extraterrestrial, d.a חgerous, or even rare.
In reality, it was something much more natural than I had imagined.
👉 It’s a fungus from the genus Exidia. It grows in humid environments and can take on very strange shapes, often gelatinous. Sometimes it appears on wood… but it can also grow on unexpected surfaces like metal, especially when there’s moisture.
Honestly, I’ll never look at my fence the same way again 😅
