I was away from home for 10 days on vacation. When I finally got back, the first thing I wanted was a hot shower and a good night’s sleep.
As soon as I walked into the bathroom, though, something caught my eye in the corner near the floor.
At first, I honestly thought it was some kind of animal nest. The strange yellow color, the dark spots, and the way it seemed to be sticking out from the wall made it look like something had been growing there while I was gone.
The longer I stared at it, the stranger it seemed. For a moment, I even wondered if some kind of creature had crawled into the wall and left it behind. The dark patches looked almost alive, and the whole thing had a texture I’d never seen before.
I spent nearly half an hour standing there, trying to figure out what I was looking at. I considered calling a friend, searching online, and even checking whether I should contact a p.e śt control company.
But after carefully pulling it out and taking a closer look, the answer turned out to be much less dramatic than I expected.
👉 It was simply an old piece of foam insulation hidden inside the wall. Moisture had gotten to it over the years, causing it to become moldy, discolored, and slowly push its way out through the gap near the floor.
I spent thirty minutes convincing myself I had discovered some strange new life form in my bathroom… when it was really just a rotten piece of insulation. 😅
