During the nine months of pregnancy, a mother’s heart is full with excitement, anticipation, and sometimes even doubt. Everyone wants the child they are carrying to be healthy and happy when they give birth. Unfortunately, the way things turn out doesn’t always live up to our expectations.
Highland, New York resident Jennie Wilklow was excited to see her daughter. As soon as Jennie and her husband held their child, they were ecstatic.
The findings of several ultrasounds and doctor visits consistently revealed a healthy baby.
Their minds were calmed by this promise, and they were unaware that their beloved Anna would be born with a condition that would change their lives forever.
Jennie delivered Anna via C-section at 34 weeks gestation. When the doctors placed the baby in her arms, she looked into Anna’s eyes and was overcome with love.
Everything with their adorable child was going well. But when Jennie’s husband paid her a visit, she couldn’t help but feel nervous about him.
“I was scared of my husband’s silence,” Jennie said to Cafe Mom. As the doctor was leaving the room, I prodded him for more details, and he simply sat there looking shocked. “It’s bad,” he said regretfully.
Her husband looked at her and remarked, “Jennie, she has the most beautiful soul.” Right now, Jennie had no idea what these terms meant. Thoughts were rushing, but she was unsure of the cause.
Anna had harlequin ichthyosis, a rare condition that manifested as thick, badly fragmented diamond-shaped plates. Soon after giving birth, Jennie revealed to Cafe Mom, “Her delicate skin hardened as they desperately tried to help her.”She was covered in open wounds all over her body as a result of the severe splitting that happened after the hardening.”Anna triumphed in spite of the doctors’ doubts regarding her prognosis. She was really lovely, Jennie exclaimed with pride.
Regretfully, there’s no recognized treatment for harlequin ichthyosis. The regimen calls for extensive skin moisturization and frequent washing, both of which require persistent effort. Every few hours, I would give her a long bath and liberally apply Vaseline.
Although it may not seem like much, it was one of my biggest challenges. Jennie remarked, “I had imagined all the gorgeous clothes my child would have.”
To spread awareness of this illness, she created the “harlequin diva” Instagram page and began posting pictures of Anna there. She clarifies the difficulties parents of children with harlequin ichthyosis encounter on a daily basis through her articles.
“Anna is the epitome of perfection in its purest form and has won the hearts of many people.” She’s naturally skilled at doing these menial jobs. Every time we reach a new milestone, the globe joins us in celebrating, Jennie told Cafe Mom.
“I now realize that the reason Anna was given to me was because of my love for my daughter,” she continued. We will collaborate to reinterpret what true beauty means in the world since we were meant to be together.
Not only is Anna stunning in her own right, but she also has lucky parents who will do all it takes to make sure she leads a happy life.
Let’s encourage our friends and family to read this article on Facebook in order to help spread the word about Anna’s story. Notwithstanding our differences, we may cooperate to increase respect and awareness for the extraordinary beauty and strength that each person possesses.
