Dogs that are homeless struggle to make ends meet on the streets in the absence of a loving or caring person. They frequently find themselves in perilous circumstances and are left to fend for themselves since no one else can look out for them. Winston was in a situation that might have been his last as he was already hungry and homeless. Thankfully, a protective angel showed up in time to save him.

Photographer Wesley White was on a business trip to Belize, a stunning country in Central America.

He could have taken many pictures of the breathtaking scenery, which included white sand beaches and deep blue skies. Seeking a peaceful fishing spot, he thought he was on his own.

Wesley, ever the adventurer, decided to kayak from his lodging to a little, isolated island, not knowing what kind of surprise lay ahead.

Instead of solitude, Wesley discovered an undernourished dog in an abandoned fishing cottage.

Wesley saw the puppy’s terrible condition and knew he was almost dead.
“I saw his tail wagging out of the corner of my eye,” Wesley recalled to The Dodo.

“My heart suddenly exploded out of my chest,” he said. “He was just waiting on someone to show up.”

Wesley realized he needed to move immediately to save the poor puppy, so he wrapped him up in a pair of swim trunks and transported him back to the mainland.

Wesley was concerned about whether he would have enough time to save the little dog with just two days remaining in his quest.

Fortunately, the staff at the hotel Wesley was staying at was quite helpful, providing the puppy with food and putting him in touch with a local vet.

“Winston was found to be emaciated, dehydrated, and infested with mites, but otherwise his organs were healthy,” Wesley posted on Instagram.

Wesley promised to stay with Winston for his final two days in Belize. The thought of having to return to Montana saddened him.

“It felt like giving up my little puppy all of a sudden,” Wesley remarked.

After Winston returned home, Wesley learned that he had been placed in foster care. But he was always worried about his future and his animal friend.

Winston even created a GoFundMe page to try and raise money for his medical expenses.

Eventually, Winston’s rescuer arranged for him to move to the US to live with Wesley and his two other dogs.
A month after leaving Belize and the puppy that had won his heart, they would eventually be reunited.

Wesley drove from Montana to Dallas, full of anticipation and worry that he would see his specific friend again. He had to wonder, of course, if Winston would remember him.

Winston appeared to be feeling better today. He ran to greet Wesley, his new owner, and began licking his face, letting him know that Wesley didn’t need to worry.

What a sweet reunion!

Despite the climate difference between Belize and Montana, Winston seems to be very content. His devoted human parents and two other dogs are all around him.
