A security guard witnessed a man throwing this dog out of a truck.
He then pushed her into a trash container and drove away.
The security guard immediately called us.
When we arrived, we discovered that she had crawled onto the road.
Her abdomen was enormous, stretched tight and on the verge of b.u ŕsting.

She had completely given up. She could barely move.
Such a massive amount of fluid is usually linked to liver problems and carries a serious risk of organ displacement.
What concerned us most was her ability to breathe.
The fluid can push vital organs into the c.h ℮st cavity and severely compromise the lungs.
We wouldn’t know the full extent of the danger until she was examined by a veterinarian.
The vet confirmed that her size was caused by severe fluid buildup.

However, the exact cause was still unknown.
The excess fluid made ultrasound imaging difficult, but liver disease, heart failure, or prolonged malnutrition
were considered the most likely causes.
She also had w.o ∪nds on her paws filled with maggots, making it incredibly painful for her to move on the streets.
We cannot imagine what life must have been like for this gentle soul.
Her name is Azalea, and she was made as comfortable as possible.
She was started on furosemide to help reduce the fluid retention.
Azalea had a good appetite, which was a very encouraging sign.
We suspected that she was severely malnourished and that once the fluid decreased,
she would be nothing but skin and bones.
The doctor did not immediately drain the fluid.
If the underlying cause was heart-related, draining too much at once could have done more harm than good.
Azalea was closely monitored while receiving diuretics.
She ur.i חated frequently, releasing large amounts of fluid.
She also received IV therapy to support her strength and overall health.
Eventually, 5 liters of fluid were drained from her abdomen,
and a sample was sent to the lab to test for c.a חcer cells.

Between manual drainage and medication, Azalea lost a total of 12 liters of fluid.
And she still had a long way to go.
As the swelling went down, we could finally see how thin she truly was.
Her ribs and spine became visible — a heartb.r ℮aking sight.
Despite the complexity of her condition, we remained hopeful.
Azalea is the sweetest girl. She constantly seeks affection and cuddles.
It breaks our hearts to think that a puppy with so much love to give was treated like gar.b αge.
More fluid was drained, and something incredible happened.
She began running with ease. Her mood improved. Her eyes looked brighter.
Azalea still needed one final drainage, after which all tests were repeated.
She is the kindest soul, and for the first time, we finally heard her bark.
With nearly all the abdominal fluid gone, she felt so much better.
The fluid was fully drained. Pathology results came back.
There was no evidence of c.a חcer, and no liver t.u ḿor.
However, Azalea was diagnosed with liver failure.
She is a young dog, and we truly believe
that with medication, supplements, and proper nutrition,
her condition can improve.
After extensive treatment and hospitalization, our beautiful Azalea was finally discharged
from the veterinary clinic.
She is strong.
After nearly 20 liters of fluid were removed, she began gaining healthy weight.
With consistent medication and nutrition, her liver condition stabilized.
For now, her diagnosis is under control.
I made the decision to keep Azalea at my home with the rest of my dogs.
She was introduced to the pack and adapted beautifully.
Today, Azalea is healthy.
She eats well. She plays happily. She is finally safe.
A special thank you to the incredible team who made her recovery possible.
And thank you to everyone for your continued support
