It began with an urgent call — a dog in critical condition,
her belly so swollen it looked like it could b.u ŕst.
When we arrived, our hearts shattered.
An old, fragile dog lay there, too weak to stand, dragging a body heavy with fluid.
And yet — when she saw us, her tail wagged softly.
That gentle wag said everything.
After everything she had endured, she still chose kindness.
Her name was Youngji.
For sixteen long years she had been c.h αined outside.
No warmth. No comfort. No real care.
When we spoke to the owner, the words were cold:
“She’s too old. She’s lived her life.” We didn’t argue.
We simply asked to take her.

And after a p.a ìnful conversation, they agreed.
That day, we promised her something simple — she would finally know love.
At the clinic, the truth was de.v αstating.
Heartworm.
Severe heart disease. Serious lung damage.
Her organs were beginning to fail.
“It’s a miracle she’s still alive,” the vet said quietly.
We drained liters of fluid from her swollen belly.
Each procedure brought relief.
Each procedure revealed how long she had s.u ƒfered in silence.
Still, she never complained.
Even when breathing was difficult, she leaned her head into our hands.
Trusting. Completely.
We prepared soft blankets for her.
But she chose the cold floor — perhaps because it was all she had ever known.
Recovery was slow.

At first, she couldn’t stand. Her legs trembled with every attempt.
But she kept trying.
One small step. Then another.
Whenever someone entered the room,
her tail wagged again — as if she wanted to say,
“I’m still here.”
Youngji’s story is not only about ill.n ℮ss.
It is about endurance. Forgiveness.
And a love that survived neglect.
She represents the countless “yard dogs” who spend their lives unseen,
never knowing they deserve tenderness.
We don’t know how much time she has left.
But we know this:
From now on, every single day of her life
will be filled with warmth, compassion, and dignity.
After sixteen years of loneliness,
Youngji is finally loved.
