I found this deep in the woods and had no idea what I was looking at. Bright blue, smooth, almost like plastic — it didn’t feel natural at all. And that weird “tail” growing out of it? Soft, almost f.l ℮shy.
Out of curiosity, I poked it… and it felt like styrofoam. When it cracked, it was even more blue inside.
Turns out, it’s actually a **young fungus**, most likely a **stinkhorn mushroom in its “egg” stage** 🍄
These mushrooms start off as strange, round “eggs” underground. When they’re ready, they split open and a long structure grows out of them — that’s the part I saw as the “tail.” The inside has that soft, foam-like texture, which is why it felt so weird.
Nature can look seriously unreal sometimes.
So yeah… not plastic, not something alien — just a bizarre stage of a mushroom growing in the wild.
