I came across this rather strange wooden object while clearing out an old house… and honestly, no one had the slightest idea what it was 🤔
At first, it looked like a small step stool or maybe a footrest. But the angle — and especially the notches at the back — made it even more mysterious.
After a bit of research, the answer turned out to be quite interesting 👇
👉 It’s actually an old adjustable book stand (lectern) 📚
The slanted part is used to hold an open book, while the notched system at the back allows you to adjust the angle for more comfortable reading. The small bar at the front keeps the book from sliding off.
📌 It was often used for:
- reading large books (like Bibles)
- holding cookbooks
- or even sheet music
Honestly, it’s not what you’d think at first glance 😅
Would you have guessed? 👀
