Alright friends… does anyone know what this is? 🤔
I came across it by chance and honestly, I have no idea whether it has anything to do with rural life or not.
At first, I thought it was some kind of old gadget — maybe a strange tool or even an antique mechanism.
With its unusual shape, small toothed wheel, and finger ring, it almost looks like something from another era.
After a bit of research, the answer turned out to be quite surprising 👇
It’s actually a tool used in taxidermy or leatherworking.
👉 It’s a toggling clamp for hides:
it’s used to hold and stretch a hide on a frame while it dries or is being processed.
📌 The teeth help grip the material so it doesn’t slip,
and the mechanism keeps the tension steady.
Honestly, I didn’t expect that 😅
It just shows that some everyday-looking objects can have very unexpected uses!
Would you have guessed? 👀
