Meet Azalea… a fragile soul with a s.w σllen belly so heavy she could barely take a single step, her tiny body struggling under the weight of something she didn’t understand.

Someone reported a dog hiding among garbage and brush, trying to escape the rain, and when Adi arrived at the scene, Azalea had already crawled onto the road, exhausted, as if she had nowhere else left to go.

Her abdomen was massively s.w σllen, one of the worst cases we had ever seen, likely caused by ascites — a d.a חgerous buildup of fluid often linked to liver or heart problems — and every breath she took looked like a battle.

With so much fluid inside her, there was a real risk that her or.g αns were being pushed out of place, even pressing against her lungs, making it harder and harder for her to breathe.

The clinic was closed that day, and all we could do was keep her safe and wait, knowing she urgently needed tests, an ultrasound, b.l σod work, and possibly fluid drainage to sur.v ìve.

When she was finally admitted, the doctors confirmed that her condition was indeed caused by severe fluid buildup, but there was too much of it to clearly see what was happening inside her body.

They made the careful decision not to drain everything immediately, because if her heart was involved, removing the fluid too quickly could put her life at even greater r.i śk.

Azalea also had w.o ∪nds on her feet filled with w.o ŕms, making every step she took on the streets even more p.a ìnful, yet somehow she still had the strength to keep going.

Despite everything, she showed a small but powerful sign of hope — she had an appetite, and she ate.

She was placed on diuretics, and soon she was ur.i חating frequently as her body slowly tried to release the excess fluid, while IV therapy helped support her fragile system.

Tests revealed extremely high liver enzyme levels, raising fears of a possible tu.m σr, and plans were made to analyze the fluid more closely for answers.

As days passed and some of the fluid decreased, her true condition became visible — her ribs and spine e.m ℮rging, showing just how malnourished she had been beneath the swelling.

Then came the heartb.r ℮aking truth about her past… a witness had seen a man throw her from a truck into the gar.b αge, a.b αndoning her like she meant nothing.

And yet, despite that c.r ∪elty, Azalea remained gentle, always searching for affection, still trusting, still loving.

The doctors began draining the fluid — liters at a time — until nearly 20 liters had been removed from her tiny body, each procedure bringing her a little closer to relief.

With less weight to carry, she started to move more, her energy slowly returning, her tail beginning to show small signs of life again.

Even in the clinic, surrounded by unfamiliar faces, she remained the sweetest girl, and one day, we finally heard her bark — a sound full of life and hope.

Further tests brought difficult news: liver failure.

But by then, Azalea had already proven something stronger than any diagnosis — she wanted to live.

After nearly two weeks of treatment, she was finally strong enough to leave the clinic, her body lighter, her spirit brighter, her journey far from over but finally moving forward.

At home, she adjusted beautifully, making friends, exploring, and continuing her treatment with careful monitoring and proper nutrition.

There were moments of fear — like when fluid seemed to return, or when unexpected b.l ℮eding sent everyone rushing back to the vet — but each time, hope held steady.

And slowly, step by step, Azalea healed.

Her liver stabilized, the fluid disappeared, and her strength returned.

The dog who once lay helpless on the road, unable to move under the weight of her own body, is now running, playing, and living a life full of warmth and love.

Azalea didn’t just survive…

She found her way back to life.

And now, surrounded by care, friendship, and kindness, she finally lives the life she always deserved — safe, loved, and truly happy.
