I was just sitting at home, enjoying a quiet evening with a cup of tea. Nothing special, nothing unusual — just a calm moment to relax.
I slowly drank it, sip by sip, scrolling on my phone, completely unaware that anything was wrong.
Then I reached the last sip.
As I swallowed, I suddenly felt something… strange. Not liquid. Something soft, almost rubbery. Instantly, I panicked and spat it out into my hand.
What I saw made my stomach d.r σp.
It looked like something alive — thin legs, a translucent body, all twisted and soft. For a second, my brain couldn’t even process it. How long had this been in my tea? Had I really just been drinking it the whole time?
I checked the cup again. Nothing. The kettle — clean. The table — nothing unusual.
That made it even worse.
I kept staring at it, trying to figure it out. My mind jumped to the worst possibilities. Something from the water? Something that got into the cup without me noticing?
After a few minutes, I forced myself to look closer.
And then it finally clicked.
👉 It was just a small gnat (midge) that must have fallen into the tea and softened in the hot liquid.
Still… definitely not the kind of surprise you want at the bottom of your cup.
