Early in the morning, I went outside to get some fresh air and found this. At first, I thought it was just a worm with some grass stuck to its head, but when I looked closer, I realized that wasn’t it. I have no idea what it is.
I stopped in my tracks. The object — or rather, the creature — was lying on the ground, motionless for a few seconds, then it slowly began to move. Not like an earthworm… it was different. Smoother, almost like it was gliding.
I stepped a bit closer to get a better look. Its body was long, slightly shiny, with dark lines running along its entire length. But what really unsettled me was its head. It was flat, widened, with a strange shape… almost like a small shovel or a hammer.
At that point, I started asking myself questions. Is it d.a חgerous? Should I stay away from it? I had never seen anything like it before, and honestly, it made me a bit uncomfortable.
I stood there for quite a while, watching it without really daring to touch it. The way it moved — slow but steady — made it seem like it was exploring the ground, as if it was searching for something.
Curiosity eventually got the better of me. I decided to look it up online and ask around to understand what I was seeing…
And the answer is much more surprising than I imagined.
👉 It’s a terrestrial flatworm called a “hammerhead worm” (land planarian), recognizable by its shovel-shaped head. It’s best not to touch it.
