The community in Ogden Canyon, Utah, is stunned and saddened by a horrific catastrophe. The CEO and president of Lifetime Products, Richard David Hendrickson, along with his 16-year-old daughter Sally, perished in a horrifying bulldozer accident.
Their GMC pickup was involved in an accident on Saturday, July 6, involving a tow truck that was towing a small bulldozer. As both cars navigated a right-hand curve on Highway 39, the collision happened. Sadly, the bulldozer fell off the tow truck and struck the car belonging to the Hendrickson family. Sally and Richard, 57, were in the truck at the time.
Two other adult passengers had non-life-threatening injuries, while the father and daughter were pronounced dead at the site. Richard was a beloved member of the company and the community who was regarded as a visionary leader. Colleagues and friends have expressed shock and grief over his passing.
Richard’s remarkable career progression from welder to CEO and president of Lifetime Products is evidence of his exceptional skills and aptitude. His coworkers and friends, notably Barry Mower, the creator of Lifetime Products, who regarded Richard as one of his closest and most trusted friends, are greatly saddened by his passing.
Governor Spencer Cox of Utah has also offered his sympathies, recalling Richard as a great leader and friend. Safety on Highway 39 has come up for consideration in the wake of the horrific tragedy. There is a petition out there asking for limitations on the kinds of cars that are allowed on this two-lane, very narrow road.
The petition draws attention to the dangers that come with bigger cars taking the risky path through Ogden Canyon. The petition, which has received over 1,700 signatures so far, asks for actions to improve safety and stop accidents on Highway 39 in the future.
Together, let’s advocate for the security of our family members and Weber County citizens. Sign the petition to voice your support and contribute to the safer daily commute in our stunning canyon.
We are praying and thinking about the Hendrickson family and everyone affected by this tragic disaster.
