When news of Coppafeel founder Kris Hallenga’s death came out today,
many LOVE Island and Towie stars paid tribute to her.
Kris, a columnist for the Sun, died at the age of 38. She had taught millions of people how to check for breast cancer, and her friends were very upset about it on social media.
Faye Winter was one of them. On her Instagram Story, she said, “Today we have the terrible news that the beautiful, brave, and courageous Kris Hallenga founder of @coppafeel has deceased.”
“Some of you already know that in June I’ll be going on a Trek with @coppafeel to bring attention to and raise money for their amazing work and dedication.
It has been so important to me to work with this wonderful charity, and it wouldn’t exist without the wonderful Kris.
“This Trek will mean even more to me after hearing this, and I hope that it’s just one way that her legacy lives on.”
“In honor of you Kris, we will keep spreading the word – Her wish was that you check your breasts today. I love Kris’s family and friends, as well as the @coppafeel family.
Towie’s Saffron Lempriere said, “Rest in peace, Kris. You were the amazing founder of @coppafeel. The women joined us on an episode of @towie a few years ago to bring attention to our friend’s death.”
“Sammy your courage & kindness through your own battle was & is beautiful.”
Howard, a comedian, also said in a tweet, “What an awesome, inspiring, life-chasing woman.”
“An absolute pleasure to have known you Kris.”
“She died with a heart full of love,” Giovanna Fletcher said. She enjoyed her life.
“So many lives have been changed by the work Kris did with @coppafeel. Many people are here today because of the message she sent out that saved lives. From now on, let’s enjoy the fact that we are still alive to do these things. Let’s say yes to the things that make us happy. Let’s love. In full.
“I love you, Kris. I’m going to jump in all the cold water (maybe not with swimming pools) and drink all the tequila shots. Xx.”
Fearne Cotton said, “Her face was pure sunshine: she was as beautiful as an angel, and she was also kind, caring, and full of life.” I’m proud to say that I drew a trapeze artist by hand to sit across the scar on her chest when she asked me to do it a few years ago.
I was too afraid to talk about death until Kris taught me it was not only okay, but necessary. We talked about cats for way too long, ate cake together, and sometimes just sat there in silence. There’s so much more I want to say, but I’m out of room here.
“Now we’re using words like ‘was’ instead of ‘is’ and digging through old photos and memories.
“There are many things to be happy about and sad about.” Maren, Kris’ twin sister, is mostly on my mind. I love you, buddy. We’re all here to help you.
I’m going to light a candle tonight for my dear partner who touched my life and saved much more. “I love you, Kris.”
CHANGING THINGS
The brave activist taught a generation of people how to make sure that breast cancer is found early and correctly.
Kris’s family put up a video montage this afternoon that shows her dancing, swimming, walking on the beach, and laughing with friends.
Kris was 23 years old when she was told she had terminal secondary breast cancer in 2009. She had been turned away by her doctor for more than a year.
She bravely fought to make sure that everyone knew the symptoms and signs of breast cancer so that it could always be caught early.
Kris successfully pushed for cancer education to be taught in schools and wrote the best-selling book Glittering a Turd.
She was kind, caring, and full of life, so her face was like pure sunshine. She was also as pretty as an angel.
It was her dream that one day CoppaFeel! would not be needed and that breast cancer would no longer be diagnosed too late.
CoppaFeel! wrote on Instagram, “We’re sad to say that our founder, boob chief, COO, friend, and queen of glittering turds, Kris, has died.”
Kris was the one who pushed being “alive to do those things” the most. She was incredibly creative, fun, and brave in how she lived her life.
“She showed us that even with cancer, you can still enjoy life to the fullest.”
It was also said by CoppaFeel! that Kris’s goal was for no one else to be in her shoes.
“CoppaFeel! was created to make sure that breast cancers are found early and correctly.”
“Kris’ life goal was to get rid of CoppaFeel! so that people who were late-diagnosed with breast cancer would no longer need it.”
“We are dedicated to carrying on Kris’s work so that everyone has the best chance to be happy and healthy.”
“She hasn’t lost a battle, she wasn’t in a fight, and she knew you wouldn’t think of her death as sad.”
“She was just living.” She was 38 years old when she died, happy and full of love.
“Kris’ family only wants one thing: peace and quiet so they can have the time and space they need to deal with her death.”
“We would like to thank our community for your love and messages of support.”
CoppaFeel! said, “Please help us honor the family’s wishes at this time.”
“Please remember what a great life Kris had and all the great things she did.”
“But above all else honour her memory by checking your chest… it could just save your life.”
To honor Kris Hallenga, founder of CoppaFeel!, Breast Cancer Now said, “We’re heartbroken to hear that she has died.”
Kris was only 23 years old when she was told she had secondary breast cancer in 2009.
“Since then she has been a tireless force for breast cancer awareness and early diagnosis.”
Kris was also praised by Sarah Brown, a campaigner who is married to former PM Gordon Brown.
“So very sorry to hear that Kris Hallenga has passed away,” she wrote on Twitter.
She left behind the amazing CoppaFeel and the joy and sparkle of her life, even though she had cancer, which was scary. to help.
“Condolences to Maren, Maike and their mum.”
“We’re very sad to hear that Kris Hallenga, founder of CoppaFeel!, has died,” Prevent Breast Cancer said.
“Thank you for always speaking out about breast cancer and pushing for early diagnosis.”
